THE CITY WALL AND TURRET

The City Wall of Huesca, which today has many remaining and renovated parts, was built around the ninth century by the Muslims.

The original construction had almost 100 watchtowers but today the only tower that remains standing is the tower of Amparo. In the old days, access to the walled settlement was through nine separate gates of which today only that of Montearagón or St. Augustine, known as "The Porteta", remains.
